10-Day Thankful Challenge

This has been a rough year in many ways for so many of us. From the loss of family members and friends to financial stressors, health scares, and depression, to a national election that will still be the subject of much debate and analysis long after we’re all gone, Americans (or the rest of the planet) haven’t needed much provocation to grouse, complain and revel in their own pity party.

Enough of that!

I’m joining Favour from Her Views and taking part in the 10 Days Thankful Challenge, and ending this year on a positive note!

Day 1

I’m thankful for my husband’s life and health. I nearly lost him two years ago when an allergic reaction to blood pressure medication ended with a thirty-day hospital stay for him – ten of those days in a coma. In April of this year, he went into total renal failure and spent nearly another month in the hospital. And, of course, we had to begin the dialysis/transplant list dance.

The last eight months have been ‘interesting.’ My mister had to stop working because of the kidney disease, and Social Security Disability requires recipients to be disabled for FIVE MONTHS before benefits begin, so to say things got tight budget-wise is putting it mildly.

But…we’re still here. Still engaging in our geeky, techno-nerd banter. Still threatening to sell each other to the next circus that passes through town. Still debating over which of us has the greatest knowledge of music history. Thirty-three years and counting.

And I’m thankful for that.

What are you thankful for in 2016? Feel free to join the Challenge!
