Shifters, especially wolves. A favorite in paranormal romance.

This week, if I could live anywhere, it would be among shifters…specifically, Ellis Leigh’s Feral Breed Motorcycle Club.

If you’re not familiar with wolf shifters, they generally live in packs. There’s an Alpha leader, whose word is law, and he’s backed up by his Beta. The position of Alpha is mostly passed down through familial connections. However, any wolf may challenge the Alpha – in a fight-to-the-death match.

The Feral Breed is a pack unto itself, made up of centuries-old shifters, wolves who lost their pack (or walked away), and humans who were “turned.”

I love these guys! Their pack has one purpose and one purpose only – to serve as an elite protective/investigative team for the president of the North American Lycan Brotherhood – the NALB – the governing body of all shifters…except the bad guys.

This six-book series follows some of the main characters on their job assignments – and finding their fated mates! Mates, I should add, some of them believed they’d never find. Gates, the Gatekeeper, is well over four hundred years old and had given up hope. Gates is also the most dangerous member of the pack… but not the alpha. I’d just like to hang out with Gates… and his brother, Beast. Their snarky banter is spot on, but their brotherly love is even better. Gates feels responsible for what Beast went through when they were children… and lost their family.

What’s makes the Feral Breed world even more awesome is the heroines!

Don’t call these women sassy and feisty! They are strong and focused, and even though the pull to their fated mates is undeniable and hard to resist, they will not be deterred from their purpose. And if their mates make the mistake of trying to tell the women what to do? Well, they only try it…once.

The Feral Breed world centers around Detroit and Kalamazoo, Michigan. I grew up in Battle Creek, the Cereal Capital of the World, so the area is already familiar to me. I might even be able to teach my new pack-mates a thing or two.

There are three spin-offs of this great series – Feral Breed Followings, The Gathering Tales, and The Devil’s Dires. But you get the best flavor of the shifter paranormal world by starting with the Feral Breed.

And – you’re in luck! The first three books of the series are boxed together as

Feral Breed: Volume One: Feral Breed Motorcycle Club

and on sale for only #99cents!

Feral Breed Vol 1 cover

Spend some time with the Feral Breed in their world… and tell them I sent you!

It’s been over two years since I read Whipped, book 2 of the Hitched series by Alex Lux, and I still break into a grin when I think about it!

It wouldn’t be hard for me to live in the Whipped-world since it takes place in a city I’ve already spent a considerable amount of time – Las Vegas. But with my lifelong love of laughter, the icing on the cake would be hanging out with Vi Reynolds and Lachlan Pierce, and their friends and family.

She’s a former Domme who’s sunk all of her money into Whipped, a sex shop. He’s a transplanted Aussie and popular male dancer on a mission to earn enough money and leave dancing behind to fulfill his real dream. He’s also an occasional, random customer of Whipped. Always with a different female on his arm, and always… shirtless!

Back up – don’t think too hard about it. It’s not that kind of story…mostly. Okay, it is that kind of story, but don’t think dark and mysterious, think light and fun! The humor and snark are off the scales in Whipped. The story also has a corny-cornball feel at times and it melds smoothly with the humor, and with the relationships between family, friends, and lovers.

Trying to cut corners and save money, Vi advertises for a roommate, and guess who answers the ad?

I wouldn’t even need a particular part to play in Whipped-world. As long as I could be on the fringe of every scene, laughing myself into a coma, I’d be the perfect tertiary character!

Meeting and spending time with Vi’s parents… Laughing.

The male dance revue…and Tate… Tears begin to stream down cheeks.

The paintball range…OMG! Falls to floor dissolving into hysterical laughter.

There are plenty of other added pluses in Whipped – the support of family and great friends, Vi’s refusal to lie to herself and become a whiny girl, Lachlan’s relationship with his mom, and former man-whore Lachlan turns out to be a true romantic – WIN!

I’ve been to Vegas a couple of times since reading Whipped, but couldn’t find Vi, Lach or the gang. Sad puppy.

Connecting with book characters and their story is what makes a book a 5-Star read. Whipped connected with my funny-bone and hasn’t let go yet.

Yes, I could live there.

Go ahead…get Whipped!

(If the story sounds familiar, but the author’s name doesn’t, Alex Lux is Kimberly Kinrade, who with her husband, pens the popular Vampire Girl series.)

Congratulations to Didi on her blogging milestone, and big props to her for coming up with a fun blog share!

There are so many stories I would love to live in, I don’t know where to start! I know we all insert ourselves into the books we read.

What?

No?

It’s just me?

*Eye roll*

Whatever!

Anywho, I believe today I’ll choose good old Maplesville, Louisiana, a quaint little southern town which serves as the location of Farrah Rochon’s seven-book series Moments in Maplesville.

I’d love to sit and chat with Callie and listen to her bash her jerk of an ex-husband.  Or, attend a ‘Naughty Nights’ party hosted by Jada… and hope grumpy Mason shows up. Well, he’s only grumpy around Jada!

Matchmaking, second chance romances, avoidance, frenemies, some naughtiness, and long-held secrets surround a small group of friends, as well as newcomers to Maplesville, and even those who are returning home after years away. Hearts have to be opened and problems resolved to grab the elusive happily ever after!

Get lost in Maplesville. Tour the town, and have a mint Julep or two. Everyone is just so gosh darn nice…when they’re not drowning in emotions and drama!
